This sustainable warehousing facility is a ZEB (Zero Emissions Building), which prioritises eco-friendly practices to achieve net zero carbon emissions, reducing the environmental impact of our operations – and the operations of our clients, too.
Anyone who uses our accredited green warehouse can benefit from the cost-effective storage and logistics services that our company is renowned for, but can also further reduce their carbon footprint thanks to our even more efficient facilities.
The John K. Philips green warehouse implements a range of green warehousing technologies and practices to reduce carbon emissions, including solar panels, EV charging points, and zero-to-landfill waste management policies.
With an EPC rating of A+ and a BREEAM score of Excellent, this energy-efficient warehouse can help to boost your own green credentials when it comes to sustainable storage and distribution.
Located in Westbrook, Warrington (WA5 7FZ), this strategic spot is right in the heart of the logistics corridor that runs through North West England – 65% of the UK is within a single HGV drive (4.5 hours).
This provides excellent opportunities for both regional and national distribution, with the warehouse fronting Europa Boulevard and connecting to Junction 8 and Junction 9 of the M62 within a mile, and the M6/M62 Croft Interchange a few miles east.
Aside from road transport, our green warehouse is also within a few miles of Warrington Bank Quay train station for rail transport, and within 30 minutes of Manchester Airport (MAN) to the east and Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) to the west for air freight.
The Port of Liverpool is also around 40 minutes away for sea freight – with other major ports like Holyhead in Wales, Hull to the East, Teesport in the North East, and Bristol in the South West all within 2–3 hours of our low-carbon warehouse.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is green logistics?
Green logistics (or eco-logistics as it’s otherwise known) is a practice that aims to minimise emissions and the environmental impact of the logistics network and delivery.
A business that implements sustainable logistics considers the impacts its operations have on the environment and takes action to meet environmental safety regulations.
It’s about improving sustainability throughout the logistics chain, including warehousing, inventory management, order processing, and transportation.
It also covers reverse logistics, in which a supplier is responsible for handling returned goods and disposing of packaging materials.
Green logistics is not only great for the environment – it can provide increased cost savings and efficiency for companies of all sizes.

What are the benefits of a green warehouse?
A green warehouse does so much more than just store goods.
They use energy-efficient lighting and more natural light to reduce their energy consumption and lower their utility bills. Often, these cost savings can be passed on to customers, making green warehousing practices much more cost-effective.
Many green warehouses invest in eco-friendly modes of transport (i.e. electric vehicles) and optimise their delivery routes to lower emissions and costs.
Plus, renewable energy sources like solar panels can power forklift trucks and EVs – saving even more money and resources.
While eco-friendly packaging may seem like an initial investment when compared to low-cost single-use plastic, recyclable materials can save money in the long run. By using these, a green warehouse sends less waste to the landfill – reducing pollution and disposal costs.
If you’re keen to adopt greener practices and reduce your environmental footprint, talk to John K. Philips about our green warehousing solutions (including all of the above!).
